A Street Florist was founded in 1982 by Helen J. Granger, whose lifelong passion for flowers naturally blossomed into a career. Long before opening her doors, every workplace Helen stepped into eventually felt like a flower shop - she brought in so many blooms and plants that her enthusiasm became contagious. After working part-time in a flower shop, she discovered she had an innate talent for floral design. With a background in business management and a deep love for the art of floristry since childhood, Helen opened her own business with a clear mission: to create meaningful, heartfelt designs built on craftsmanship, quality, and personal attention.

For over three decades, Helen has committed herself to excellence in both design and service. She understands that sending flowers is a personal gesture, one that should carry intention and sentiment. Every order receives thoughtful care as she and her team ask the right questions, learn the story behind each arrangement, and infuse that emotion into the final design

Helen’s work has reached far beyond the shop. She has designed for Macy’s Department Store, created arrangements for a televised fundraiser for the United Negro College Fund, and has been honored to design for notable figures such as President Jimmy Carter, Bishop Desmond Tutu, and Willie Edwin Hawkins. Throughout her career, Helen has earned numerous awards recognizing her floral design, customer service, and community contributions.

A Street Florist is also shaped by Brandee, our lead designer and shop manager. With a background in design and event planning, Brandee brings a meticulous eye and a creative spirit that customers adore. Her work is not only beautifully crafted but deeply personal—she genuinely cares about the people she designs for, and it shows in every arrangement she creates.

As a mentor, Helen has spent many years guiding and training young people entering the workforce. She has supported countless students through the Regional Occupational Program (R.O.P.), offering hands-on experience in both floristry and professional development.

Today, A Street Florist continues to honor its roots: exceptional flowers, thoughtful design, and genuine care for every customer. Our legacy is built on passion, creativity, and a commitment to making life’s moments more beautiful.
